5 Unexpected Decisions from WWE that worked and 5 which didn't, in recent times.

Now, we all know for sure that WWE universe is shrinking time after time and the biggest proof is the dropping viewership. For a company like WWE, they have to make some decisions to change their fortunes. WWE have made somany decision in an over a period of time. But certainly not everything always works. So in this very article we are going to take a look at 5 decisions of WWE that were unexpected but they worked for the company and 5 (also unexpected) but they didn't worked for them.

5. Worked. Occasional Returns.

Who don't like surprises? Especially among WWE fans, and there is no better way to surprise WWE universe than a Unexpected Returns. In last 2 years we have seen Edge returning in Royal Rumble 2020  then Roman Reigns at SummerSlam 2020 then John Cena at Money in the Bank 2021 and the most recent one Brock Lesnar at SummerSlam 2021.

Not only Returns but the calibre of the superstar who returned are amazing. This occasional returns definitely benefited the company in form of viewership and entertainment. Fans who never thought they would see Edge fighting again after his retirement in 2011 because his neck injury, they loved to see him back after almost a decade of rest.

So we can say this for sure that return in WWE has always worked out for them.

5. Didn't Worked. Retribution.

When it (Retribution) appeared first time in 2020, everyone was expecting something big out of it. People were speculating that maybe John Cena or Any other veteran could be the Leader of this faction but it was never the reality of this case.
At the end, Mustafa Ali was the leader of Retribution. Not gonna lie it wasn't that great of a choice, but there was a possibility that still Retribution could work. But faction it self never did any big things to show up to the WWE fans.
They just used to interfere between random matches and that never gave them any hype or big of a response from the fans. So after all these casual things they just become a memorable foolish decision from WWE. Now there is no Retribution as such and many of the members of it are also released from the Company (WWE).

4. Worked. Naomi vs Sonya Deville.

Now this is literally my current favourite in women's devision. Why? Because there is Sonya Deville who is an Authority Figure and her Victim, Underdog Naomi. The best part about this one is that Naomi is wife of the Blood line member Jimmy USO, which make it the possibility that she could be the first Female memeber of Roman Reigns's Bloodline.
Also Sonya Deville is coming as good parody of Stephanie McMahon, and we know these type of rivalries where authority figures try to bully and suppress the underdogs. In 2014 it was the same case between Authority and Daniel Bryan, and that is a Golden Rivalry of Modern Era.
Till now WWE definitely did fantastic job to build up this feud and we hope it continues the same way.

4. Didn't Worked. Fiend vs Orton's  storyline End.

If you consider the overall fase of The Fiend AKA Bray Wyatt, you will notice that his best rivalry was with Randy Orton, one of the key reason was because they had past experience with each other in 2017 where we saw Them fighting at the grandest stage of them all WrestleMania 33 and except the match, everything was next to perfect in that rivalry and that history replicated itself in 2020-21.
Rivalry started and we all enjoyed it and that Inferno match between them at TLC 2020 where Orton burned the Fiend in the middle of the ring. It was definitely one of the most scariest moment of the moder Era. After that when Fiend returned with that different look and again started to occupy the mind of The Viper.

Eventually this feud scheduled to end at The WrestleMania 37 again and we all were excited to watch this match but we never expected it to end the way it end. We all thought Fiend will take the revenge with Orton and beat him but Surprisingly Alexa Bliss the alias of the Fiend herself helped Orton to win.
The baddest thing about this decision was that never found the answer why Alexa did that and now Fiend AKA Bray Wyatt is also Released from the Company (WWE).

3. Worked. RK-Bro.

In above decision where Orton was the baddest heel (bad guy) of the company however in this decision he is exactly opposite of that. This Randomly made Tag team RK-BRO was interesting since it started. First (Matt) Riddle wanted to be the friend of Randy Orton but obviously Orton didn't want that. But after somany efforts we finally got RK-BRO.
The strangest thing about this is we never saw Orton in this kinda thing. He has been many different tag teams and Faction but he was not exactly a face(good guy) in that tag teams and Faction. But he is now a Good guy working in a tag team with Matt Riddle.
The best about this decision is that it is helping Riddle to be the future star in the company and its definitely going make him a memorable alias of Orton in the History of WWE.

3. Didn't Worked. (Random) Tag Teams.

I know I know, I just Cherished a random Tag Team RK-Bro in above decision but except them and AJ Styles and Omas team there is no as such Random Tag Teams that are working well in the company. If you look at Dirty Dogs the team of Dolf Ziggler and Robert Rood is just a great talent not getting utilised. Even Viking Raiders which is a pure tag team but it also not working. Why? Because of their character and the way WWE is handling the Tag Teams division.
There was a time when we used to enjoy the this devision, when we had Edge & Christian, Hardy Boys, Dudley boys and even just few years back Usos and New day were giving us classics. They still giving classics but there is very few literally very few tag teams who are interesting right now in WWE.

2. Worked. Brock Lesnar as babyface and his Mic Skills.

We never imagined that we will see Brock Lesnar as Babyface especially in 2021 and without Paul Heyman his former Advocate who used to talk on his behalf but right now Brock is doing pretty good job not only as Babyface but also on mic. Yeah not like his killing it on mic but its not his cup of tea, but he is doing his best.
Before this (2021) whenever Brock Lesnar talked on mic by himself he just used to abuse more than talking, that's the reason he barely used to talk on Mic. But after his advocate joined the Roman Reigns he has no other option but to talk himself for himself.
This look and character of Brock Lesnar us definitely entertaining for the fans and also for him to explore himself as a superstar.

2. Didn't Worked. Midcard Titles Storylines.

This is not hidden from anyone that currently there is nothing interesting about Midcard Titles (US championship, Intercontinental championship) except their look. But it used to be so much prestigious when John Cena used be the US champion and his open challenges were so great too. If you consider IC championship then The Miz took that Championship to a whole another level and after him Sami Zyan was the only great IC champion but after he relinquished it because of COVID-19 circumstances we never enjoyed that Title.
We know everyone can't be the world champion and that's true so for those new comers and underrated superstar they can show their potential as a US or IC champion. These championship can gave them the relevance as a superstar. But currently US champion is Damien Prist and IC champion is Shinsuke Nakamura. I know Damien is a new comer but still he is not making that title relevant so how could he be relevant for the fans.
If you consider Nakamura, he is also not doing anything great as IC champion he is just champion who is barely defending the championship and make the Title relevant.

1. Worked. Roman Reigns's Heel Turn.

Now there is no doubts about that Roman Reigns as babyface were not working. He was still the top guy in the company but still fans were booing him and considered him to be overpushed. But still WWE wasn't changing anything about him. But when he took the Break in 2020 and when he returned after that the things were totally changed.
He returned as bad guy in the company and joined Paul Heyman and made him his Wise Men which certainly made him a bad guy. After this Heel Turn he never looked back. He won the Universal Championship, He made his faction called the Bloodline and he defeated all the big guys of the company including Daniel Bryan, Edge, John Cena and Brock Lesnar.
He definitely defeated most of them with the help of his cousins The Usos but after all he is a bad guy who can do everything and anything. So this decision is definitely the best from WWE.

1. Didn't Worked. Big E as WWE champion.

Now this one is bit controversial and subjective. But if you look at the reign of Big E as WWE champion you'll see that he doesn't have those champion qualities. He is a great superstar and he can do everything like his character is good (not as champion though), he is good on Mic and his in ring skill are also fantastic but as a champion he doesn't have that attitude of Champion.
WWE championship is the prestigious Championship not only in WWE but in all sports entertainment industry. We have seen so many great WWE champion like The Rock, John Cena, Randy Orton, Brock Lesnar, Seth Rollins, AJ Styles and just a year back Drew McIntyre. But Big E is not the same as these champions were.
I know many of you like him as champion and that's okay. But he is not doing anything to make that title relevant to the company, and I also mentioned it above that everyone can't be the World champion and that is the same case with Big E.

So I hope you liked and enjoyed the article if you did then let me know I the comments 😉.
